We want to hear about your experience of parking in Kingsholm

Gloucestershire County Council is reviewing the resident parking scheme in Kingsholm so improvements can be made if needed.

A resident parking scheme was introduced in July 2023 in Kingsholm to bring multiple benefits to the area: to reduce congestion, make the streets safer for road users and ensure parking availability for local residents.

Now the county council is following up the project with a review to measure the success of the scheme and find out if any sections of parking need to be revisited to make minor changes to improve the scheme for residents and businesses.

If you live or work in zones H and J and would like to send us feedback, please get in touch by answering the following questions.

Thinking about on-street parking in your street, where the resident parking scheme has been established:

1. What aspects of the parking scheme is working well?

2. What aspects of the parking scheme are not working so well for you?

3. Have you found it easier to park close to your house since the new parking scheme was implemented?

4. Is there anything you would like to propose to make the parking scheme work better for you?

Send your responses to KingsholmTRO@gloucestershire.gov.uk before the end of September 2025 and we will be very pleased to hear from you.

Cllr Jeremy Hilton, county councillor for Kingsholm and Wotton, said: “"I have been working with the parking team for some time to initiate this light touch review. This includes allocating funds from the Highways Local budget to implement any recommended changes. We have made significant progress in reducing parking congestion in Kingsholm, but there is always room for improvement. It's crucial that we hear about your daily experiences so that the council can find ways to enhance parking for everyone in the area.”

Cllr Roger Whyborn cabinet member for Strategic Highways and Sustainable Transport, said: “We’re always looking for ways to improve the experience of residents and businesses in Gloucestershire. We implemented a resident parking scheme in Kingsholm in response to your concerns and we’re following up to find out how it’s working for you. Early indications tell us congestion has been reduced, but as with all big projects, there could be further changes needed and that’s why we’re asking for your input. We will listen carefully to your feedback and carry out improvement work where necessary.”
