Important message for bird keepers

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in a large commercial poultry flock near Brockworth, Gloucestershire on 18 December 2025 by the Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA).

A 3km protection zone and 10km surveillance zone has been declared around the premises.

Within this 3km protection zone all poultry or other captive birds MUST be housed. To report poultry or captive birds that are not housed within this area please call the Gloucestershire Trading Standards Incident Line on 01452 427999.

There is also an Avian Influenza Prevention Zone (AIPZ), with mandatory housing measures in place for keepers of over 50 birds.
