Gloucestershire County Council is delighted to announce that Arle Court Transport Hub has been selected as one of twelve exceptional civil engineering projects to reach the final shortlist for the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards 2025.

The nationally respected Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has chosen the transport hub as a transformative example of sustainable transport development in the south-west of England. The award recognises and celebrates projects across the region which showcase innovation, sustainability and social impact.

Arle Court Transport Hub aims to transform the travel experience for residents and visitors within, to and from the west Cheltenham area, as well as those arriving from the M5 via long-distance coach travel, by providing enhanced park and ride facilities that are both convenient and comfortable.

The scheme has also been designed to offer improved sustainable travel choices and better connectivity to local active travel, which in turn will reduce congestion, lower CO2 emissions and improve air quality in the region.

Cllr Julian Tooke, Cabinet Member for Business, Economic Development, Planning and Infrastructure said: “We’re really proud that Arle Court Transport Hub has made it to the finals of the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards 2025. It’s great to see the hard work of everyone involved being recognised. This hub is already making a real difference in helping people travel more easily and sustainably in and around Cheltenham and beyond. We’d love it if people showed their support and voted for the scheme in the People’s Choice Award.”

As one of twelve finalists for the award, the project now enters the final judging phase. Members of the public are also invited to cast their vote for the scheme that they think has made the most positive impact on the local community in the People’s Choice Award.

Voting is free via the ICE website at www.ice.org.uk/about-us/ice-near-you/uk/ice-south-west/awards and is open until 5pm on Friday 29 August 2025. The project with the most votes will be announced as the winner at the ICE South West Civil Engineering Awards gala ceremony in Bristol on 23 October 2025.
