Annual Parent Carer Survey to shape future SEND services
The survey is a vital opportunity for families to share their experiences, ideas, and feedback to help improve services across education, health, social care, and early help. Insights from the survey will guide the Local Area Partnership in shaping future services and making meaningful improvements that reflect what families truly need.
Parent voice really does matter.
Feedback from parents and carers directly informs service development and leads to real changes.
Last year’s survey responses led directly to improvements such as:
- Improvements in communication with families: The Families in Partnership newsletter is now published every month, providing families with updates and news from across the Partnership. It is easy to subscribe to so every issue comes directly into your inbox.
- A new SEND-friendly calendar: Families asked for better ways to plan activities, and now a dedicated calendar highlights specialist events and opportunities across the county.
Families can read more about the impact of last year’s survey in the council’s ‘You Said, We Did’ report, available now on the ‘Support for Families with SEND’ page of Glos Families Directory.
The Parent Carer Survey is open from Monday 6 October and will close on Friday 5 December 2025. Families can take part online by visiting: www.glosfamiliesdirectory.org.uk
Cllr Linda Cohen, cabinet member for education and skills at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We’re working together with families, local groups, and professionals to build services that meet the needs of children and young people with SEND.
“I’d encourage all parents and carers to complete the Annual Parent Carer Survey. By sharing your views; you’ll be helping us create a more supportive, inclusive Gloucestershire for all children and young people.”
