Gloucestershire County Council recently held an event to showcase how its Family Hubs network will provide support across the county for children, young people and families.

Over 200 professionals from across Gloucestershire’s health, education, social care, and voluntary sectors came together on Tuesday 16 September to learn how the county’s new Family Hub networks will support children, young people, and families, and how they will enhance the work of those who support them.

The launch event marked a key milestone in the development of Family Hubs, which aim to provide inclusive, accessible, and empowering support to families across the county. Attendees learned how the Family Hubs will offer joined-up services tailored to local needs, helping professionals to deliver more coordinated and effective support.

It also provided an opportunity to celebrate the collaborative effort behind the development of the Family Hub model, recognising the contributions of organisations who worked alongside the county council and families to co-design the model. This partnership has helped to shape a support offer which reflects the needs and lived experiences of the communities it serves.

Guests were welcomed to the event by Ann James, Executive Director of Children’s Services who highlighted the importance of continuing to develop Family Hubs as welcoming spaces where families can receive the support they need to thrive.

They heard directly from children, young people, and families about their experiences, and shared reflections on what’s working well and what more can be done. Afterwards attendees were introduced to the providers running the council’s Children and Family Centres and Youth Hubs, which will extend support to older children and young people.

Finally, guests saw a preview of Gloucestershire’s Virtual Family Hub. a digital gateway which will make it easier for families to access advice, guidance, and support online at the earliest opportunity.

Cllr Ben Evans, Cabinet member for Children’s Safeguarding and Care, said: “This launch marks a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting families across Gloucestershire.

“Family Hubs are about making it easier for families to get the help they need, when they need it, whether that’s in person or online.

“It’s been fantastic to see so many partners come together at this event to celebrate this shared achievement and look ahead to what more we can do together.”
