Local specialist community reablement providers will allow council to help more people across Gloucestershire
The providers are Retain Healthcare, Mega Resources Nursing & Care and La Vie En Rose. They will work with the council to deliver reablement support in communities across Gloucestershire.
The community reablement service, which will continue to be led by the county council, will ensure residents receive timely support within their communities that enables them to regain confidence, rebuild daily living skills and remain independent for longer.
The service will provide community-based support and, in doing so, aims to prevent the need for future hospital visits. However, it will also be able to help people return home safely after a hospital stay, reduce the need for ongoing care and support, and help prevent avoidable admissions to hospital or residential care.
Each of the providers already have a strong local presence in Gloucestershire. Retain Healthcare delivers homecare, clinical care, complex care, supported living, reablement, healthcare staffing, community services, as well as training and diplomas across the South West.
Mega Resources operates from Barnwood Point in Gloucester. It is a nurse-led home healthcare provider delivering home care, live-in care, young persons' care, dementia care, extra care and hospital discharge support.
La Vie En Rose is based in Tewkesbury and provides home care that supports people to remain independent in their own homes, including personal care, companionship, support with appointments and day-to-day practical help.
Reablement staff already working in the service will be transferred to the new providers on their existing terms and conditions of employment, to form the core of new, larger teams.
The decision to move to this new service was approved by Gloucestershire County Council’s Cabinet in July 2025. The appointment of the specialist community reablement providers follows a detailed procurement process.

I’m delighted that we are partnering with three specialist community reablement providers with strong local connections and experience of delivering care in Gloucestershire communities.
“This new approach allows us to increase local capacity and build on the strengths of trusted providers and existing staff, while the council continues to oversee and shape the service. Most importantly, it will help more people achieve the outcomes that matter to them – living safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible.”
