Families can book activities available through Gloucestershire County Council’s summer Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) from 10am on Tuesday 7 July.

A wide range of free, fun activities and nutritious food will be on offer for eligible children and young people across the county to keep them happy, healthy and entertained from Wednesday 22 July to Tuesday 1 September for the summer school holidays.

Children in Reception to Year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals can take part.

To book, families should visit the Family Hubs booking system: https://familyhubs.gloucestershire.gov.uk/haf.

To book activities, families must:

• Create an account

• Provide details of the child taking part in activities by creating a profile

• Include any Special Educational Needs and Disability information for each child taking part

• Make sure emergency contact details are up to date

This summer, there are lots of exciting options to choose, from creative arts to sports, outdoor activities, sensory play and inclusive activities for children and young people with additional needs. To check eligibility for the programme, families can email: freeschoolmeals@gloucestershire.gov.uk.

HAF Community Connectors are available across all districts to help families who may need support with booking or attending sessions. A specialist SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Community Connector can also help children and young people with additional needs benefit from the programme.

Cllr Linda Cohen, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Families can now book places on our Holiday Activities and Food Programme, which offers children and young people a great opportunity to stay active, try something new and enjoy healthy meals over the summer.

“We’ve worked hard with our partners to put together a varied programme, including activities suitable for children and young people with additional needs. I would encourage all eligible families to explore what’s available and secure their places now so they don’t miss out.”

Families who aren’t eligible for free school meals can find further information and support on the Glos Families Directory.
