Young People Connect was held at The Patch in Gloucester on Thursday, 29 October, bringing together more than 50 young people aged 12 to 17, alongside community organisations, service providers and senior leaders.

The youth-led event gave young people the chance to speak about the issues that matter to them, showcase projects they are involved in and share their experiences and priorities directly with organisations and decision-makers.

The event is part of the council’s commitment to giving young people a voice and opportunities to help shape the services that affect them.

Cllr Ben Evans, cabinet member for children’s safeguarding and care at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “It’s really exciting to hear directly from young people about the issues that matter to them, listen to what they have to say and act on it.

“Young people know what matters to them and what they need from us, and events like this give them the opportunity to shape the services they use.

“We want young people across Gloucestershire to know their voices matter, that we value what they have to say and that their experiences can genuinely influence what we do.”

Young People Connect also celebrated the contribution young people make in their communities and helped build stronger links between young people and organisations across Gloucestershire.
