Businesses invited to strengthen cyber resilience and embrace new opportunities at Gloucestershire Tech Week

Providing the keynote speech on the first day (Monday, 12 October) will be Cllr Lisa Spivey, Leader of Gloucestershire County Council and Cllr Julian Tooke, Cabinet Member for Business, Economic Development, Planning and Infrastructure.  

Later in the day there will be discussions to consider how collaboration, innovation and digital capability can help create stronger, more resilient communities and businesses across the county at a session called Greater Than the Sum: Where Gloucestershire's Strengths Meet.

The following day - Tuesday 13 October, from 9am at Hub8 MX, Cheltenham the Cyber Resilience and Digital Sovereignty Day will bring together business leaders, cyber experts, technology innovators and policymakers to explore how organisations can thrive in an increasingly digital world.

The programme includes sessions on cyber security, business resilience, emerging technologies, digital identity, data sovereignty and practical support for SMEs. The event forms part of Gloucestershire Tech Week, with a wider programme of activities, networking opportunities and innovation showcases taking place across the county throughout the week.

As part of Gloucestershire County Council's commitment to supporting economic growth and digital innovation, the day will showcase how businesses of all sizes can access expert support, improve their cyber security, and take advantage of the county's world-leading cyber and technology ecosystem. 

Cllr Julian Tooke, Cabinet Member for Business, Economic Development, Planning and Infrastructure, said: "Gloucestershire has earned an international reputation for cyber and technology excellence, supported by strong partnerships that have helped deliver some of the best digital connectivity in the country. Our ambition now is to ensure that every business in the county can benefit from that expertise. By working with CyNam and our partners through Gloucestershire Tech Week, we want businesses to know that support is available to help them become more secure, more resilient and more competitive."

Highlights include discussions on global cyber challenges, cyber trends, the role of SMEs in defence innovation, space and cyber technologies, and practical sessions focused on protecting organisations from digital threats. The programme also includes a dedicated roundtable exploring how Gloucestershire businesses can adopt new technologies to improve productivity and resilience.

The partnership forms part of GCC's wider work to support Gloucestershire's digital economy, helping businesses develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to succeed in an increasingly connected world. For those unable to attend there will be online information made available.
