Public invited to next Coombe Hill development information event

Residents and local businesses are being invited to the next public information event about proposals for the Coombe Hill development.

The drop-in event will take place on Wednesday 30 September 2026 from 3.30pm – 7pm at The Swan Inn, Tewkesbury Road, Coombe Hill, GL19 4BA.

The project team are keen to meet with the public again, hear people’s views on the latest scheme designs and explain how feedback from the previous event – especially around drainage, flooding and road safety – has helped shape the scheme before a planning application is submitted.

Coombe Hill is being proposed as the location for a new multi-purpose site on 27 acres of council-owned land off the A4019. The proposals currently include a new training facility for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, a new highways depot and an 80-bed care home.

The scheme is now being progressed in two phases. Phase one includes the fire training facility and highways depot. The care home remains part of the current proposals and would be delivered as phase two, subject to further design work, planning and approvals.

Cllr Colin Hay, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Finance, Assets and Transformation, said: “We know there is a lot of local interest in the Coombe Hill development proposals. For this reason, we want to make sure residents and businesses have another opportunity to speak to the project team, ask questions and share their views ahead of submitting our planning application.

“The feedback we received at the last event was really valuable. People raised important questions and concerns about the proposals which we have taken on board. This next event is an opportunity for us to show how that feedback has been considered and addressed as the scheme has developed. I would encourage anyone with an interest in the site to come along, find out more and let us know what they think.”
