Social worker shortlisted for top national award
Sev Huggins, a social worker in Adult Social Care, was selected as a finalist for the Newly Qualified Adults Social Worker of the Year award in the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2026.
The award is open to newly qualified social workers with less than one year's experience who have made a positive difference to the lives of adults through their outstanding work.
Sev was nominated for his exceptional work supporting adults with complex needs, his strong advocacy for people's rights and independence, and his thoughtful, reflective approach to social work. He was nominated by Social Work Lead, Lauren Warner, who describes him as a compassionate practitioner who consistently goes above and beyond to achieve positive outcomes for the people he supports.
Sev Huggins said: "I am honoured to be selected as a finalist in the Newly Qualified Social Worker of the Year Award. To be recognised so early in my career is incredibly special.
"Social work is a profession I am passionate about, and I feel privileged to support people through some of the most important moments in their lives. This nomination reflects not only my own journey, but also the support, guidance and encouragement I've received from colleagues and teams across Adult Social Care."
