Tuffley Library set to reopen following completion of essential repairs

Residents will be able to return to Tuffley Library next week after essential repairs were completed.

The library has been closed since 19 May while essential repairs were carried out, following a significant roof leak. The work included the complete replacement of the roof, with a new carpet also installed ahead of the reopening. New furniture will also be added over the coming weeks as part of a wider refresh of the library.

Tuffley Library is due to reopen on Monday 14 September at 10am, welcoming customers back to a refreshed and improved space.

During the closure, many of the library's regular groups and activities temporarily moved to other local libraries and community venues so that services could continue.

Library staff are looking forward to reconnecting with local schools, community groups and residents as activities resume and the programme of events continues to grow.

The library plays an important role in the local community, providing access to books, digital services, events, activities and opportunities for people of all ages to connect and learn.

Cllr Paul Hodgkinson, Gloucestershire County Council cabinet member with responsibility for libraries, said: "We're delighted that Tuffley Library is reopening and look forward to welcoming residents back through the doors. Libraries are at the heart of many communities, offering much more than books. They provide spaces where people can learn new skills, access support, meet others and take part in a wide range of activities.

"I'd like to thank residents for their patience during the closure and pay tribute to library staff, volunteers and community groups who have worked extremely hard to keep activities running. The improvements made to the building will help ensure Tuffley Library continues to serve the community for many years to come."
