Safeguarding adults training

We provide training to help protect adults with care and support needs. These training courses are valid for three years and employers should regularly assess individual knowledge and competence and arrange refresher training as needed. 

A recommended training pathway for all organisations and partners is outlined below. 

This online course introduces the basics of safeguarding adults.

Who is this course for?

Anyone who comes into contact with adults with care and support needs and has a role to protect them from abuse or neglect. This includes reception and administrative staff, personal assistants, and family carers.

What does the course include?

This session will enable delegates to understand:

  • what abuse is
  • how to recognise it
  • what to do if you suspect an adult is being abused.

How do I book?

This free e-learning module is available to anyone working or living in Gloucestershire.

This course equips front-line staff with the essential knowledge and skills to safeguard adults with care and support needs, ensuring concerns are identified and raised in line with Gloucestershire’s multi-agency procedures.

Who is this course for?

All front-line staff who have direct contact with adults with care and support needs.

What does the course include?

This session will enable delegates to:

  • understand what safeguarding is and their role in safeguarding adults
  • identify an adult in potential need of safeguarding
  • understand their responsibility to raise a concern within Gloucestershire's multi-agency safeguarding policies and procedures.

How do I book?

This half-day course can be delivered in-person or virtually within your organisation by a GSAB-approved safeguarding trainer, or you can book an individual place on open courses.

Please note: Completion of "Level 1 - Safeguarding Adults Awareness" is required before attending this course.

If your organisation is interested in developing its own GSAB-approved Safeguarding Trainer, we run a Train the Trainer workshop twice a year to support organisations in delivering this training internally. For further information, please contact emma.hawkins@gloucestershire.gov.uk.

The course emphasises the six safeguarding principles, working with partner agencies, and gaining and respecting the adult’s views and wishes, enabling learners to contribute effectively to safeguarding processes within their defined role and responsibilities.
