Sufficiency Strategy 2018 - 2021

We are delighted to share the draft Sufficiency Strategy, entitled ‘Right Placement First Time’ 2018-2021, and seek comments from all stakeholders to finalise the strategy, and work together to improve the lives of children, young people and families in Gloucestershire.

As corporate parents, Gloucestershire County Council and its partners, are committed to ensuring children and young people in care achieve the best possible outcomes and are well prepared and supported to transition into adulthood with the support they need. Key to this is ensuring that children and young people are provided with permanence and stability in care and settings which meet their changing needs over time, and in doing so; we need to ensure we have a robust strategy and effective commissioning arrangements to ensure that we secure the ‘Right Placement First Time’.

The Strategy also takes account of prevention and early intervention which we need to develop to reduce numbers of children and young people becoming Children in Care.
