Forums and common themes

Commissioners hosted three forums during February 2024 for domiciliary, care home and disabilities/mental health providers to present and obtain feedback on some of the data around demographic growth, service demand and market capacity for the next 20 years.

Following the presentation, providers were then split into groups and guided in round table discussions, prompted by the following five questions:

1. Are you surprised by any of the data?
2. How do you think this will impact your business?
3. What are the main issue/s you foresee based on the information given?
4. What do you think the solutions are?
5. How can we best support you going forward?

Common themes

Ten common themes were identified based on feedback from providers across the three forums. These were:

1. Workforce
2. Cross-sector collaboration and engagement 
3. Training
4. Increasing complexities
5. Mental health
6. Funding and rates
7. Diversification of services
8. Estate and housing
9. Telecare/digital
10. Placements by other Local Authorities
