Employers' area
Domestic abuse can have an impact at work – affecting those who are being abused and also their workplace colleagues. Employers also have a duty to safeguard the wellbeing of their staff.
When someone is affected by domestic abuse, work might be their only place of safety - where they are separate from their abuser and they can also experience some independence and even ask for support.
As an employer, it is likely that members of your workforce could be experiencing domestic abuse. This can be especially complicated when the abuse is being perpetrated by another member of your workforce.
It’s essential that employers are knowledgeable about domestic abuse as they are ideally placed to offer key support. To assist with this, Gloucestershire’s Domestic Abuse Local Partnership Board (DA LPB) has created Policy Guidance for employers to use to develop their own Domestic Abuse Policy.
