Equality versus equity

• Equality - ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities and receives the same treatment and support.
• Equity - recognising that individuals have different circumstances, and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome. This includes providing more support to those who need it.

Health equity means ensuring that every person has the opportunity to achieve their best health.
