Autistic Spectrum Condition Training

In Gloucestershire we offer autism training to enable the local health and social care workforce to meet local needs. Our autism training programme is open to all adult social care staff in Gloucestershire, including those in the voluntary and independent sector.

Tier 1 Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism

Audience: Those that require general awareness of autistic people and / or people with a learning disability and the support they need. Relevant to those in working in any sector who may occasionally interact with those affected by a learning disability but who do not have responsibility for making decisions about their care or support.

Two parts

E-learning module - The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism - Part 1 of 2

Followed by a 1 hour Webinar facilitated by two people with lived experience of learning disability and autism, plus a supporter.

Tier 2 Oliver McGowan Training on Learning Disability and Autism

Audience: This is relevant to health and social care workers providing care and support, including care assistants working in residential or home care, personal assistants and others in roles which facilitate access to care.

We recommend completion of the E-learning module - The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism - Part 1 of 2 , followed by a One day Face to face session.

  • Learn how to use the National Autistic Society's evidence-based SPELL framework. (Structure, Positive, Empathy, Low Arousal, Links) to undertake effective social care assessments for people with autism
