Raising awareness of unpaid carers

Our Carer Aware initiative aims to raise awareness of the crucial role that unpaid carers play in society.
Carer Aware was developed following an idea from an unpaid carer who suggested that a discreet way to identify unpaid carers would help support them.

There are now various Care Aware branded items available to unpaid carers in Gloucestershire, including a badge, lanyard and discount card.

Through Care Aware we want to create a community that recognises, supports and champions unpaid carers. You can help us by:

  • promoting the branding - using the Carer Aware logo in marketing materials aimed at unpaid carers
  • wearing a badge or lanyard - this helps people identify you as being carer aware
  • displaying a poster in your workplace - a range of Carer Aware posters are available to download
  • using our discount card to access local services or offering a discount to carers using your services

All Carer Aware branded items are available from Gloucestershire Carers Hub, by contacting careraware@peopleplus.co.uk

Together we can improve the lives of carers in Gloucestershire.

“I wear my Carer Aware badge with pride. It is a subtle way of showing solidarity with other carers and it also helps when I see someone else with a Carer Aware badge, as I know they will understand without having to explain myself"

“I feel part of a carer community”
