Climate Action Plans and sustainability leads  

Schools need to create a climate action plan and have a nominated sustainability lead. The plan should outline how the school will take actions to reach net zero, such as. You can find out more about this here.

Over 55 schools in Gloucestershire are using the Eco Schools initiative to guide their sustainability journey. The project offers a guided plan for schools to go through with their pupils to learn more about sustainability. 

Find out more about the Eco Schools programme. 


There are limited funded spaces available on Eco Schools through Gloucestershire County Council. If you are interested in seeking a funded place for next school year (September 2026 - September 2027) email glosclimate@gloucestershire.gov.uk 


Eco Schools run a yearly campaign called Cut Your Carbon, it focuses on six meaningful actions for students and families to help reduce their emissions.
