As well as being the gateway to the Southwest, we are well connected to the rest of the country and within easy travelling distance of Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, and London.

Diverse towns and cities

Our county is divided into six districts: Cheltenham, Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, Gloucester, Stroud and Tewkesbury. Each of the districts has its own character and identity together combining business and industry, beautiful countryside, historic towns and cities, shopping, sport, culture and connectivity. It’s a county to be proud of with plenty to attract tourists as well as being a great place to live and work

A centre of innovation

Whilst perhaps best known for its stunning landscapes, Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and protected Green Belt land, Gloucestershire also enjoys a prosperous economy and an excellent track record of securing available government funding, which means the county is well placed to recover from the economic challenges of the pandemic.

We’ve worked hard to move projects forward that will secure future growth, including our multi-million pound transport and highways infrastructure programme, our ambitious economic growth agenda to provide 100,000 new homes, businesses, shops and leisure facilities over the next 30 years, and we are making significant progress with our climate change commitments.

We want Gloucestershire to excel as a county at the centre of innovation, where big ideas come to life and potential is unlocked. With GCHQ and our new cyber park, together with our bid to be the home of the first fusion reactor to produce electricity in the world by 2040, we aim to be at the centre of clean energy production and the digital revolution.

Well connected 

Thanks to excellent road, motorway and rail links, London is just two hours away and the cities of Birmingham and Bristol close by. We have some great schools and further and higher education offers too which make Gloucestershire a place to choose for your whole family.
