Suzanne - Finance Business Partner
One word to describe Gloucester County Council would be REWARDING

I enjoy working in an organisation which is focussed and motivated to support communities and individuals and especially those that are vulnerable.
As a Finance Business Partner I provide strategic financial and budgetary advice to a number of Service Areas within the Council which includes Children’s Services, Education and Public Health & Communities. I work closely with Service Directors providing financial business models for capital developments, financial advice for the procurement of services as well as overseeing monthly forecasting, budget planning/setting and the closedown of the Accounts at Year End.
I also manage a team of Management Accountants who provide the day to day support to budget holders in the Services. The role also includes presentations to Members of the Council on the financial position, risks and mitigations.
Everyone is very friendly and supportive, and we work as a team
The office environment is pleasant to work in and is set up as a hot desk area with standard equipment. Equipment is supplied to enable staff to work at home.
Training is available to gain your professional accountancy qualification and also to learn softer skills such as staff management. The frequency of supervision will vary depending on experience but usually takes place at least once a month with six monthly reviews of performance.
Great work life balance
Flexi-time is available to all staff on Grade 11 and below which enables us to manage peaks and troughs in workload. All staff are required to be in the office at least once a week or more depending on choice.
What would you say to someone thinking of joining us?
You will be able to work in a supportive, friendly environment where there are many opportunities to learn and influence how services are provided.
