Cycle to School Week 2026, get Gloucestershire cycling! Monday 5 to Friday 9 October 2026
Cycle to School Week is back, and schools, pupils and families across Gloucestershire are being encouraged to swap four wheels for two and make cycling part of the school journey. Taking place from 5 to 9 October 2026, Cycle to School Week is a national celebration of everyday cycling, encouraging children and families to discover how enjoyable travelling to school by cycle can be. Whether your family already cycles regularly or you are thinking about giving it a go for the first time, this is a great opportunity to get involved.
Bikeability Why cycle to school? Cycling is a fun and active way to start the day. It can help children build confidence and independence, while reducing the number of short car journeys and helping to ease congestion around school gates.
Bikeability Even if cycling every day is not practical, families could use Cycle to School Week to try something different. You could: cycle to school for one or more days during the week cycle part of the journey and continue on foot plan and practise a new route together cycle together as a family encourage friends or classmates to join you Schools can get involved too Schools can make an official Cycle to School Week pledge and receive a free digital School Pledge Pack. The pack includes classroom resources, assembly slides, posters and activity ideas to help schools celebrate the week and encourage more pupils to take part.
Bikeability Families and individuals can also make their own pledge and receive resources to support their cycling activities.
