Our principal role is to enforce legislation designed to protect both consumers and traders. Initial advice to consumers who are in dispute with a trader is the responsibility of the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline.

We generally only become involved if the dispute is complex or if it reveals a breach of the criminal law. We give priority to vulnerable consumers.
