Some pass holders have made us aware of a social media video claiming that existing card holders must register their cards by the 20th November 2025 to allow their continued use.

This information is false and we believe this may be a scam to collect people's information or obtain money under false pretense.  Please do not follow any links or ring any numbers connected with any such messages.  Please do not share your personal information with anyone associated with these posts.

People of pensionable age

You qualify for an age-related concessionary bus pass when you reach the State Pension age.

You may apply up to 28 days before you become entitled to use your pass.

The most straightforward method is to apply for your pass online. For customers who are unable to use the online system you can apply by visiting a local participating Gloucestershire library.

You will need to provide the following evidence to complete an application:

Photograph – this must be a recent, colour, full face without a hat or sunglasses (unless you are partially sighted or blind).

For online applications you will need a digital passport sized photograph which needs to be in either pdf or jpg format.  If you are making your application through a library, your photograph will be taken during the application.

Proof of age - can be one of the following:

  • Passport
  • Driving Licence
  • Medical prescription or optician’s prescription 
  • Birth certificate

Proof of Address - must show your name and address and can be one of the following:

  • Driving Licence
  • Medical prescription or optician’s prescription
  • Council tax bill
  • Utility bill
  • Bank statement
  • Benefit letter
  • NHS medical card

Your pass should be automatically renewed if you have used it within the last 13 monthsIf you have not received your new pass by the beginning of the month it expires, you can renew your age-related bus pass online.

Renew your pass online

You will need to ensure you have not moved address since your last bus pass was issued.

If you have moved, you will need to provide proof of your new address.  You can email this to buspasses@gloucestershire.gov.uk or visit a participating Gloucestershire library.
