Gloucestershire Day
Gloucestershire Day will take place on 21 September 2025.
It’s an opportunity for us all to celebrate and be proud of the county in which we live, learn, work and play.
This year in 2025 we are celebrating five themes:
- The county’s natural landscapes which are treasures we should cherish and protect.
- Our rich historical heritage which tells the story of our past and shapes our future.
- The lively community of innovative businesses and entrepreneurs driving our local economy. Supporting them is investing in a successful future for us all in the county.
- Our diverse and dynamic communities, each contributing to our rich cultural tapestry. Celebrating our community spirit brings us closer together and strengthens our collective identity.
- The achievements of young people in education. Our schools, colleges and universities are shaping the leaders of tomorrow and fostering a love for learning.
We are encouraging people to share the things that make you proud of living in Gloucestershire. Please use #GloucestershireDay25 and tag us in @GCC, so we can celebrate with you and share your snaps.
The Gloucestershire Flag.
The Gloucestershire flag, also known as the Severn Cross, was designed by Jeremy Bentall for a competition to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of the county in March 2008.
Prior to 2008, the banner of arms for Gloucestershire County Council was used as the flag for the county.
The flag is blue, cream and green in colour, which represents the River Severn, Cotswold stone and the Golden Valley in Stroud respectively.
