Why do I need one?

Portable Traffic Lights may be used where works are taking place on or near the carriageway and /or a risk assessment has deemed them necessary.  The Street Works team may put conditions on the use of portable lights on the network.

You must all notify the Street Works team of all activities in the highway, including carriageway, footway and verge.  This helps the local authority to manage the network as per the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and other legislation.

There should be no assumption that by submitting the application will be approved.

Please give at least 10 days notice when submitting an application.
