Enablement Coordinator (Grade 6)
The Enablement Service is a county-wide service to support and encourage people with disabilities to develop daily life skills in their home and community.
As an Enablement Coordinator, your aim is to enable people with disabilities to be as independent as possible. We are passionate about empowering and equipping people with the right skills to take control of their lives.
You will support and advise on:
- how to maintain a safe, habitable home;
- fire safety advice and checks;
- good nutrition and healthy eating; and much more.
As an Enablement Coordinator you will also be responsible for covering the drop-ins. The drop-ins are a service for all adults with disabilities or illness who need some help or advice about day-to-day life. There is no charge for this service. We provide a safe informal environment where people can simply pop in and find out about us and other services that are available in their area.
"It’s about connecting people in the community. It’s about working with people, helping families that are in a crisis to signpost them to the correct places to get support and help people with a wide variety of things.
"I really enjoy working on the ground and working with people directly. I like to work alongside them rather than come in and tell them what to do because at the end of the day, the role we provide is to enable people to do what they want to do." - Enablement Coordinator
