What I enjoy most about working in the Cotswolds is the team culture. I would describe my colleagues as supportive, caring, passionate, knowledgeable, kind and approachable. There is a genuine sense of teamwork and a shared commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children and families.
The Cotswolds is also a fantastic place to work. The beauty of the area and the variety of communities we support make even the occasional travel enjoyable.

As a Newly Qualified Social Worker, I have received regular supervision, case support and access to a wide range of training opportunities. This includes learning from experienced practitioners, guest speakers and people with lived experience.
The Social Work Academy has been a huge part of my development, providing protected learning time and the opportunity to connect with other newly qualified social workers across the organisation. This has helped me build confidence, develop my knowledge and establish professional relationships beyond my immediate team.

The flexibility offered by Gloucestershire allows me to work effectively both in and out of the office. We have excellent equipment and IT support, ensuring there are no barriers to delivering the best possible service.
Managers actively encourage a healthy work-life balance and provide practical support to help staff manage the demands of the role. As a result, I feel able to switch off at the end of the day knowing I have done my best for the children and families I support.
What Systemic Practice Means to Me
For me, systemic practice is about seeing the bigger picture. It means understanding the wider factors that influence a child or family's situation and working together to achieve meaningful, long-term change.
Taking a systemic approach helps us explore different perspectives, understand barriers and identify the right support to help families thrive.
Making a Difference Every Day
The most rewarding part of my role is being able to support children and families during difficult times and ensure their voices are heard.
Often, it is the small moments that make the biggest difference. Seeing a young person grow in confidence, or a parent begin to trust professionals and seek support, reminds me why social work is such a rewarding profession.
I'm Committed to Building My Career Here
Although I am still at the beginning of my career, I genuinely could not imagine a better place to develop as a social worker.
Having spent time with Gloucestershire as both a student and a newly qualified practitioner, I have consistently experienced a culture where support grows alongside challenge. As responsibilities increase, so too does the investment in helping you succeed.
