Brook Academy opens its doors to pupils in September
The Brook Academy in Brockworth has been purpose built and carefully designed to meet the needs of children and young people aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Needs and, when full, will provide an additional 80 special school places within the county. Staff from the school have been in touch with parents and carers to provide initial details of the start date, induction and transition arrangements and will continue to liaise closely with them at the start of the school year.
Some children will be entitled to transport assistance but there is not an automatic entitlement to this. Parents should contact Gloucestershire County Council’s SEN Travel Enablement Team on 01452 425011 (email sen.transport@gloucestershire.gov.uk) in order to establish if transport assistance is available and to ensure all the necessary forms are completed and have been received. Information about eligibility criteria and how to apply can be viewed at: www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/transport/school-transport/transport-assistance-for-sen-pupils
Parents and carers of children who have been offered a place at the school are able to contact the Headteacher directly via info@brook.learnmat.uk if they have specific queries about the arrangements for September, especially if they were unable to attend the induction and transition meetings in July.
