Success for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service at National Breathing Apparatus Challenge

On Saturday 7 October a team from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) took part in the National Breathing Apparatus Challenge (NBAC). The challenge aims to promote best practice in Breathing Apparatus and is assessed using skilled staff from different Fire and Rescue Services from around the UK.

Representing GFRS in the challenge were: Watch Manager, Josh Bence, Firefighter, Sam Cushing, Firefighter, Matt Adams, Firefighter, Ceri Large and Crew Manager, Amy Lynex. The team competed against over 20 teams, representing Fire and Rescue Services from all over the UK.

Many congratulations to the team as they placed in the “Gold Band” of the overall standings and secured a position in the top 6 teams overall.

The Breathing Apparatus team consisting of Firefighter, Matt Adams and Firefighter, Ceri Large were also awarded the prestigious honour of best Breathing Apparatus team in the competition.

This was the first time that a team from GFRS has participated in the challenge which makes this result even more impressive. 

The team are looking forward to building on this year’s success at the 2024 challenge.
