Major home adaptations can include:
- Bathroom or bedroom extensions or relocation - for example, moving to the ground floor
- Kitchen or living room redesign - making it easier to perform daily tasks
- Stairlifts or vertical through floor lifts - to avoid using the stairs
- Permanent ramping - for safer entry into the home
- Widening doorways - for improved access, especially for wheelchair users.
You can contact the Adult's Helpdesk or Children's Helpdesk at Gloucestershire County Council for advice and guidance about major home adaptations, and for an assessment of your needs. For help with the cost of major home adaptations, you may qualify for a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).
