About the Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge scheme helps people with disabilities or health conditions park closer to where they need to go.
A Blue Badge lets you park in certain restricted areas when displayed in the front windscreen of the vehicle you’re using, whether you’re the driver or a passenger.
The badge costs £10 and enables the holder to park for free in approved parking areas:
- in allocated disabled bays and on the road
- in any car park for the maximum stay (subject to its terms and conditions)
- on single or double yellow lines (up to 3 hours)
A Blue Badge is usually valid for 3 years. For badges linked to a disability benefit that ends in less than three years (such as PIP), the badge will expire at the same time as the benefit.
