The works
The works
The project involves stabilisation and highway reconstruction works at three locations along Forest Road.
Site 1: Original landslip
The main stabilisation work at the original landslip location has been completed. The remaining activities include completing minor kerbing, verge and defect-remediation work, followed by the final surfacing and finishing works.
Site 1a: Additional area of movement
Work at Site 1a includes:
- Site and vegetation clearance
- Installation of sheet piles to stabilise the embankment
- Construction of the carriageway and verge
- Drainage and associated highway works
- Reinstatement of kerbs and road levels
- Final surfacing and road markings.
Sheet piling began on the 4th September 2026. Currently 44 of the 75 planned piles have been installed with further piling continuing.
Site 2: Further stabilisation works
Preparatory work at Site 2 includes carefully removing vegetation so that the embankment can be fully inspected and accessed.
The work is being carried out in stages, with an ecologist present during the initial clearance. Once the area has been prepared, specialist piling equipment will move from Site 1a to Site 2.
The Site 2 works will include:
- Vegetation and site clearance
- Preparation of crane working platforms
- Installation of sheet piles
- Carriageway reconstruction
- Verge and drainage work
- Surfacing and road markings
