Update: 8th October 2026

Good progress is being made at Site 1a, where specialist sheet piling is continuing to stabilise the embankment.

Once piling at Site 1a is complete, the team will begin the full-depth carriageway reconstruction and associated verge work. Preparatory work at Site 2 will allow the specialist team to move directly to the next working area. 

The road is currently expected to reopen in summer 2027, subject to ground conditions and construction progress.
