Poultry and captive birds reporting page
This page can be used to report your stock of poultry or captive birds in the event of a confirmed case of Avian Influenza in Gloucestershire.
On this page the definitions are as follows,
Poultry includes for example chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese, pigeon (bred for meat), partridge, quail, guinea fowl and pheasants.
Captive birds are any birds kept in captivity, other than poultry, and includes for example – pet birds, birds kept for shows, races, exhibitions, competitions, breeding or sale.
Further information on the current avian influenza restrictions and controls which apply in your area can be found on the government website.
APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency) staff may call you to gather further information. This information will help our veterinary staff to assess the risk of avian influenza spread. APHA veterinary staff may need to carry out a visual inspection of your birds to assess their health. They will be in touch if they need to do this.
All data gathered will be shared with DEFRA and APHA for the purposes of notifiable disease prevention and control.
