How did this service get started?

Getting started

The Robin started life as a funding bid written by Gloucestershire County Council in 2019. In 2020, we were informed that our service would be funded by the Department for Transport, having proven that Gloucestershire is just the place for a new service to increase the rural transport offer.

By observing the journey bookings on the service, we tweaked the service within the two year pilot scheme as needed.

Progress into new areas

The success of The Robin from 2022, and development for Gloucestershire's transport network, has allowed The Robin to expand, with new areas hitting the road in June 2024. Funding is now secured for The Robin till 2026. If The Robin still suits our county through 2026 and into the future, we'll look into a further extension of the service.
