Great Gloucestershire Achievers
On the 14th December 1918 women voted for the first time in a general election. 8.5 million women were eligible to vote, providing they were over 30 and they or their husbands were an occupier of property.
Gloucestershire County Council's cross party task group were keen to see this 100th anniversary recognised. Archives staff and volunteers have produced this slideshow of great Gloucestershire achievers to celebrate this.
We have focused on women who are no longer living, but would like to extend it to include major achievers who are still alive today. If you have any suggestions with reasons why you feel other great Gloucestershire achievers (living or dead) should be celebrated, please contact archives@gloucestershire.gov.uk. We plan to keep a permanent record in Gloucestershire Archives.
