Hart Silversmith's Trust

The Hart Silversmith's Trust project is focused on conserving a collection of about 3,500 drawings covering a span of over 100 years, and represents an important part of local and national heritage, as well as a valuable record of silversmithing and the Arts and Crafts movement. The vast majority of these drawings and designs were created by George Henry Hart, the first generation of the Hart silversmiths in Chipping Campden. The collection also includes drawings by Charles Robert Ashbee, the renowned architect, designer, entrepreneur and prime mover of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Gloucestershire Archives has supported the project by advising the Trust, training its project volunteers, helping to digitise the collection, and preserving the original drawings in its specialist strongrooms. Any researcher wishing to use the collection should contact the Trust directly.
