Our annual report, Making the difference that matters, looks back at the progress we've made over the past year, the support provided to residents and carers, how we're improving services, and the priorities that will shape our work in the years ahead. It provides an overview of how we're helping people live safe, independent and fulfilling lives, with the right support at the right time.

CQC assessment of Gloucestershire Adult Social Care
Adult Social Care in England is monitored and regulated by the Care Quality Commission, in-line with government legislation.
The Health and Care Act 2022 gives the Care Quality Commission (CQC) powers to provide independent assessment of care at a local authority and integrated care system level. You can find out about the latest inspection of Gloucestershire County Council on our website.
CQC also inspects and rates residential care facilities commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council.
To ensure we comply with the relevant legislation, we follow a set of social care polices and procedures which are published on our website.
The Care Act 2014
The Care Act 2014 sets out the rights and responsibilities of local authorities, care providers and individuals. It focuses on:
- well-being
- prevention
- making sure people have the information and advice they need to make good choices about care and support
- meeting care and support needs of adults and their carers - rather than an emphasis on providing services
- carer rights - including the rights for young carers who are providing care and support to an adult.
