Energy and Emissions
Since 2019, our dedication to environmental stewardship has remained unwavering. Through meticulous monitoring of our gas and electricity usage, we have endeavoured to comprehend and diminish our environmental impact. As part of our continuous environmental assessment, we have collaborated with Julie's Bicycle to monitor our energy output, enabling effortless comparison over the years.

Through concerted efforts and investment in energy-saving measures such as LED sensor lights and heightened awareness of usage patterns, we are delighted to announce a significant reduction in our carbon emissions. From 111 tonnes of CO2e in 2019, our carbon footprint has declined to 33 tonnes in 2025.
We installed solar panels on our main building, new strongrooms and old strongrooms in 2025 and by the end of the year had generated 138,660 kwh of electricity. In early 2026 we are investigating installing batteries to enable us to use more of the electricity we generate ourselves at times when the sun is not shining. We were particularly pleased when an extended local power cut in our neighbourhood did not impact on our service due to our solar panels.

Additionally, we embraced the principles of the circular economy by disassembling and repurposing old refrigeration units, ensuring a lifecycle that minimised waste and maximises resource efficiency.
