Engagement and Opportunities

In 2024 and 2025 we delivered a packed programme of environmental archive-inspired engagement activities including talks, events, activities, wassail, workshops, walks, travelling exhibitions and artworks. 7435 people took part in our events. We used eco, non-plastic banners for our travelling exhibition.
Although the funded activity programme is now finished, there are several opportunities to remain engaged.
Gloucestershire Heritage Hub:
- Come to Gloucestershire Archives to do your own environmental research. Guidance/inspiration is available here
- Explore our online exhibition here
- Listen to podcasts here
- Admire the green-inspired local stitchers’ quilt, Imogen Williams’ Arlingham 1607 flood inspired artwork, and Natasha Houseago’s ‘Pledgehog’ in the reception area of Gloucestershire Heritage Hub. Amy Freeman’s green-inspired heritage eco-bunting will reappear at future events
- Ask us about environmental talks developed during the project and available for further outings
- Join us as a volunteer. We often have opportunities onsite in the Archives and the community garden, and remote projects too. For further details see: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/archives/get-involved/volunteer/. We currently hold free ‘Soil and Soup’ sessions on the third Saturday of each month.
Further afield:
- Admire John Slater’s ‘Grandfather Clock of Times Past, Present and Future’ at Dean Forest Museum or Chris James’ decorated garden shed at Kingsholm Primary School
- The Green Pledge Project travelling exhibition will continue travelling round Gloucestershire’s libraries in the coming months.
