Project Reports and Articles
Throughout the project we have had articles published in Cotswold Life, community radio interviews with Bristol Community Radio, blogs on the Heritage Hub website and local climate action group pages. Below are links to a few of those articles.
- When GPP Learning and Outreach Officer, Marion Hill, visited Wotton Area Climate Action Network, Sam Munton from the group was so inspired she decided to come to the archives to find out for herself what it was like. Digging Into the Past to Shape a Greener Future
- Since the Green Pledge Project began in October 2023, community archivist Jenny Rutland has been working behind the scenes to catalogue both the sizeable Environment Agency collection and the Severn Trent collection. The comprehensive list of the maps and plans which make up the Environment Agency collection is now available on our public catalogue, you can read Jenny's blog here.
- The entirety of the Severn Trent collection and that of its predecessor organisations is also now available on our public catalogue, you can read Jenny's blog on this here.
- During the Green Pledge Project, we reduced our carbon footprint by installing solar panels and switching from high-cost HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) technology to simpler, more effective low-energy solutions for the management of our archive strongroom environments. Read an article on this process here
- The Archives and Records Association published a case study article of Gloucestershire Archives' Green Pledge Project on their website: read the article here
- The Green Pledge project has also featured in the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust's print magazines, Spring and Autumn 2025. The articles feature the cataloguing of the Trust's archives and how the archive can be used to track botanical changes and tell us about future ecological trends in Gloucestershire.
- A case study of the Green Pledge Project features in Gloucestershire County Council's Climate Change sixth annual report. The case study appears on pages 27-28. Read the report and case study here
