Searching the catalogue
Our online catalogue is a list of all the documents we hold at Gloucestershire Archives. The catalogue contains over a million entries giving brief details of both archive and local studies collections, as well as local studies material held in Cheltenham Local & Family History Centre. The catalogue also contains details of materials held at Gloucester Cathedral Archives & Library. It doesn’t include images of the documents themselves.
You can search the catalogue using key words to find what you are looking for. If you haven't found what you are after, try using related search terms. For more help see our help pages
Register online
If you haven't used Gloucestershire Archives before you'll need to sign up for an Archives and Records Association Archives Card. You can start this process online. Please see our Visit Us page for more information.
Order documents online
You can search the online catalogue to find reference numbers of documents you wish to view.
You can then pre-order your documents via the catalogue - see the Help pages for more information. We need 3 working days’ notice and you can order up to 20 documents. If you know that you'll need to see more than 20 documents, please email us at archives@gloucestershire.gov.uk
If you can't visit the archive in-person, you can employ an independent researcher to make a copy for you. For more information you can look at our copyright and making copies guidance.

Privacy notice
As part of the Data Protection Act 2018 the information collected when registering by our online customer registration form will be used by Gloucestershire Archives for its administration, service development and security activities. Contact details will be shared with the Archives & Records Association (ARA) for its administration of the ARA Card scheme; also with other archive services for security reasons if required.
