What we buy

The council spends money on a wide range of goods and services for people and businesses in Gloucestershire.

Some examples include:

  • Social Care Services: This includes care for children, the elderly, and vulnerable adults. Residential and home care services and support for people with disabilities.
  • Education and Schools: This includes educational materials, equipment and supplies, school transport services and IT systems and technology for schools. 
  • Infrastructure and Construction: This includes road maintenance and repairs, construction and refurbishment of public buildings (e.g. schools, libraries, community centres) and waste management and recycling centres.
  •       Public Health and Wellbeing including health and wellness services, public health initiatives and campaigns and equipment and supplies for public health programmes.
  • Environmental Services: These includes landscaping, grounds maintenance and parks services, energy-efficient solutions for public buildings, waste collection and disposal services.
  • Transport and Highways: This includes road construction, maintenance, and repairs, fleet vehicles for council use, public transport services and infrastructure development.
  • IT and Technology: This includes software, hardware, and digital services for internal use, cybersecurity solutions, telecommunications and data management systems.
  • Legal, Finance, and Professional Services: These include legal services for the council,  financial and accounting services, consulting and advisory services across various departments.
