You can arrange care and support privately yourself. If you want the council to arrange or pay towards your care, you have to get a needs assessment. The needs assessment tells you what type of care will help you and how it'll be delivered to you.

Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMHP’s) are trained to carry out duties under the Mental Health Act and are guided by the Mental Health Act Code of Practice. They provide access to assessment under the Mental Health Act on an around the clock basis.
Requests for a Mental Health Act assessment can be made Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm to the Adult Social Care helpdesk or by calling 01452 426888. Out of hours please call the Emergency Duty Team on 01452 614194.
The Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Service is delivered by Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust.
