Complaints about Freedom of Information & Environmental Information Regulation

The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) and the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) provide you with the right of access to information held by Gloucestershire County Council [the council]. You have the right to request a review of the response you have received regarding your request for information and complain about our compliance with the legislation. For requests made under the Environmental Information Regulations, the council is required to provide an internal review process in accordance with Regulation 11.

In this procedure ‘complaint’ refers to an expression of dissatisfaction with the council’s compliance with the above legislation or the request for an internal review of the decision to withhold information in response to a request to access recorded information held by the council.  Where possible, we will seek to resolve concerns informally in the first instance, for example by providing clarification or additional explanation. However, you may request a formal internal review at any stage within the 40 working days after receiving our response.
