Foster Care Fortnight (11–24 May): This Is Fostering!
This year’s theme, ‘This Is Fostering!’, focuses on real stories and lived experiences. It reminds us that fostering is not one single journey, but many – each shaped by the needs of the child and the commitment of the carer. Throughout the fortnight, we will be highlighting how fostering makes a difference, often through everyday moments of stability, kindness and support.
Here in Gloucestershire, Foster Care Fortnight also gives us the chance to publicly thank our foster carers for the dedication, compassion and resilience they show every day. At the same time, it helps underline an ongoing challenge: there is a national shortage of foster carers, and Gloucestershire is no exception.
During the fortnight, the fostering service at GCC will share stories, information and details of events across our social media channels to raise awareness and encourage more people to consider fostering.
How to get involved:
1) Share our fostering messages across Instagram: @fosteringgcc and Facebook: @gloucestershirefostering.
2) Have you ever thought about fostering? Foster Care Fortnight is the perfect time to explore what fostering could look like for you and your family. Meet our foster carers and hear about their stories, or explore our Core Offer to Foster Carers to see what support is available for you.
