GCC celebrates their foster carer community

Published
Gloucestershire County Council has shown their appreciation to their foster carers with an evening of celebration and thanks for all that they do to support children across the county.

What a wonderful evening we had last month, with over 150 foster carers and staff attending our 'Spring Fling' Appreciation Evening at Bowden Hall. The red carpet was rolled out to welcome our amazing fostering community for an evening of celebration and joy.

We recognise the efforts that our foster carers continually make to welcome, care for and support the local children that come into their homes, and this evening is just one of the ways that we celebrate their dedication. Our foster carers are ordinary people doing extraordinary things to help local children feel reassured and loved during a difficult period of their lives. We're so grateful for all that they do, and are so happy that they enjoyed this event.

This year we introduced our Foster Carer Shining Stars awards, one nominated by service staff and the other by GCC foster carers. A huge congratulations to Judy and Steve, as well as Carol and Tony who were our lucky winners on the night. Both couples were recommended for going above and beyond for the children in their care, and we are so lucky to have them as part of our community.

Thank you to all of our foster carers and service staff who help us provide the best support and care for children across the county.
