Construction programme

The construction programme revised to reduce impact on cattle grazing

Main construction works were originally expected to begin sooner. However, following discussions with local stakeholders and commoners, concerns were raised about the potential impact that major construction activities could have on cattle grazing during the spring and summer months.

After carefully considering this feedback, the project programme has been revised. Subject to the completion of the detailed design and necessary approvals, the main construction phase is now proposed to begin in November 2027.

Latest Update - October 2026

Work continues on the development of a permanent engineering solution for the Cowcombe Hill landslip.

Specialist engineers are reviewing investigation findings and progressing detailed design work. Site monitoring remains in place and the condition of the slope continues to be assessed.

Geotechnical investigation works are currently being undertaken and are programmed to run until 9th October 2026. Information collected from these investigations will be used to support development of the permanent remediation solution.

Further updates will be provided as key project milestones are reached.
